Sir H. Pottinger states as follows in his letter dated 24th August: "such instructions as were written to the Superintendents of this Colony up to the day of the Notification of the Transfer, are to be changed to the Military purposes of the Expedition".
Their Lordships gave intimations by letter dated 3rd March.
